So finally after a long winter of talk discussion and huge planning, Wayne Rainey and his team have launched MotoAmerica, which will launch a new era for the American Superbike Championship or AMA road racing series. With the 9 rounds and the rights to USA, Canada and Mexico– and with new rules more in line with World Superbikes– it really does look like KRAVE (the company Wayne Rainey is president of) can bring superbike racing in the States back to its former glory.
The real agenda for Krave is getting young Americans back fighting for championships on a world level. The USA hasn’t won a road racing crown since 2006 with Nicky Haydon. I caught up with Wayne Rainey at the MotoAmerica preseason test in Austin before the first race of the year, which will be during MotoGP weekend at Austin April 12th.
